The IT project I am currently having in mind is making a self-check in app, used mostly by hotels. This app will be compatible to any phones, any OS and can be implemented on any other platforms as well. This software will help to reduce the number of employees working night shift, which is can be very detrimental to your health. Not only that, applying technology to managing system can increase efficency as well as security. In addition, this app will help companies and coorporations to cut down personel, which results in saving budget. Applying automatic system in tourism, especially hotel and restaurant industries is also important in today’s society.
People usually have to queue up to wait for their turn when their want to check in.With this app, they can check in by themselves. Not only that, customers can feel more secure because no-one can’t evasdropping their personal information, and the check-in process can be much more faster and accurate than the traditional one. This app can also protect employees from working night shift, which can be harmful to their health and cause mistakes if they are not conscious enough. Chieh-Heng Ko (2017, p. 17) stated that “Consumers' beliefs in the ease of use and usefulness of the focal technology for enhancing the performance of an intended task facilitate or reinforce choice of SSTs over the service staff (Lu, Chou, & Ling, 2009).”
To have an optimize, high-performance app and bring the user the best experience, the app has to be included a lot of features. We have a log in, log out and 2 factor authenication in terms of security. We try to make the whole process of checking in and checking out done just within a few touch of your smartphone. Internet Banking is also implemented in this app with lots of other payment methods to maximize the speed of paying. QR code capture will be installed in the app, so you can scan the code of the hotel or other places and get more informations. AI will also be in this app to enhance security such as voice-recognition, face-recognition and fingerprints scanning. Once you enter the app, there is a dashboard of your currently staying hotel and the information will be displayed on the screen. The main menu will be on the left side. The app also keep record of your previous checking in/checking out. GPS is also implemented in the app so you can know where exactly where you are when travel. When you travel or on a vaction. there are a lot of things to be consider and you might forget the checking in/checking out time, which may cost you extra fee. So because of that, one of the features of the app is the reminder and works like an alarm clock. The utmost importance when using the app is that you have to have a stable internet connection to your devices. The app will also support finding a wireless connection in your area. The “report” function is also included in case anything goes wrong.
Once you have checked in, the app switch to another UI. At this point, you can interact with everything around the hotel by using the app. There will be a dashboard which display your personal information. You can use the app as a key for room access and turn on the electricity. Because of this, you will never have to worry about losing keycard. You can send request to the hotel such as housekeeping or maintainance. The “review” function is added so you can rate the services at ease. When we travel or on a vacation, one of the things we can’t ignore is offerings and promotions. In this app, we have a specific area that users can view the hotel’s offerings, promotions, services and discounts. Customers can also save the offerings that they interested in and read about it later. In that way, it is like a win-win situation. One of the features we will put in the app is the customization. No users is the same. Each person have a different experience with the app. With this feature, customers can customize the app to suit them better. The app can be personalized to suit each customer’s experience. When checking out, you don’t have to queue up at the reception desk anymore. Just simply check out and go through confirmation process, then you can easily check out the hotel.
